Factors responsible for the distribution of PIB of nuclear polyhedrosis virus of the groundnut red-hairy caterpillar, Amsacta albistriga Wlk

Factors responsible for the distribution of PIB of nuclear polyhedrosis virus of the groundnut red-hairy caterpillar, Amsacta albistriga Wlk

Journal of Entomological Researchrecd 1(2): 218-220

Laboratory studies were carried out in India on the factors responsible for the distribution of the polyhedral inclusion bodies (PIBs) of the nuclear polyhedrosis virus of Amsacta albistriga (Wlk.). The intact PIBs contained 0.16% silicon. The bicarbonate content of the mid-gut secretion of last-instar larvae was 0.084 m eq.; the pH of the mid-gut, blood and food (Calotropis leaves) was 9.3-10.0, 6.7-7.0 and 7.0, respectively.
