Flowering of pine clones in seed orchards

Phenological observations were made on the flowering of Scots pine clones in three Latvian seed orchards in 1974, 1975 and 1976. The orchards contained respectively 27, 28 and 16 clones. The 'flowering time' of each clone was determined, and it was found that the distribution of clones by this character was symmetrical. Early-, medium- and late-flowering clones were distinguished, and the possibilities of crossing determined.
