Foot and mouth disease virus carriers (in cattle) in north Choco, Colombia

Foot and mouth disease virus carriers (in cattle) in north Choco, Colombia

Revista Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario 13(2): 411-415

A total of 1216 cattle in the Choco Department were tested against the Virus Infection Associated (VIA) antigen; 110 were reactors. FMD virus could not be isolated from oesophago-pharyngeal fluid. The high incidence of reactors was tentatively attributed either to a prior contact with natural disease, or to repeated vaccination with imperfectly inactivated virus.
