Further investigations on the protein quality of newly bred forms of barley and grain maize from the standpoint of animal nutrition

Further investigations on the protein quality of newly bred forms of barley and grain maize from the standpoint of animal nutrition

Tagungsbericht, Akademie der Landwirtschaftswissenschaften der Deutschen Demokratischen Re ik (158): 79-87

Naked barley proved to have higher contents of protein and lysine than a winter barley with which it was compared and these were more digestible. An opaque maize type differed from the normal in lysine content only; this was also more digestible than the normal but inferior to the barley. Another opaque type was slightly inferior in lysine content to the first but exceeded the normal maize in both protein and lysine content.
