Genetic control of responsiveness to the tumor-associated transplantation antigen of a chemically induced murine fibrosarcoma

A C-1 fibrosarcoma was induced chemically in BALB/c/Dp female mice, and the strength of the anti-C1 immunity (the rejection response to the tumour-associated transplantation antigen) was measured in BALB/c/Dp mice (controls) and 6 hybrids involving BALB/c backgrounds. The results indicated that a dominant suppressor gene(s) causes unresponsiveness and that this gene (or one of these genes) is H-2 linked. Mapping tests showed that the H-2 linked gene is in the I region.
