Genetic control of the number of pyloric caeca in the brown trout (Salmo trutta L.) and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri, Richardson). 3. Effects of genotype and egg size on the expression of the trait in the brown trout

Genetic control of the number of pyloric caeca in the brown trout (Salmo trutta L.) and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri, Richardson). 3. Effects of genotype and egg size on the expression of the trait in the brown trout

Annales de Genetique et de Selection Animale 11(1): 93-103

Sex had no effect on the number of pyloric caeca in hatchery-reared brown trout. The h2 of the trait was 0.36 plus or minus 0.15. There was a maternal effect operating via egg size; the correlation of egg size with number of caeca was 0.52 (P<0.05).
