The investigation involved 51 males , aged 2-3 yr, from a strain selected for tameness over several generations and 44 unselected males of similar age from a commercial population. Blood samples were obtained once or twice per month throughout the year for hormone estimations. Testosterone levels were similar in selected and unselected foxes throughout the year. The oestradiol level peaked in Jan. in the unselected foxes, and in Feb. in the selected foxes.
