High protein wheat

High protein wheat

Agricultural Research, USA 27(1): 19

Twenty-seven breeding lines with high protein contents but poor agronomic traits, for use in breeding programmes to improve protein content, have been obtained at Montana State University, firstly, by crossing nine high-protein lines from eight foreign countries with each other and with proven varieties from the USA and, secondly, by crossing the two lines with the highest protein contents from each of the crosses with each other.
