Histochemical localization of enzymes in relation to the formation of gum ducts in sweet cherries

Histochemical localization of enzymes in relation to the formation of gum ducts in sweet cherries

Angewandte Botanik 52(5/6): 363-369

Gum formation in sweet cherries was induced by spraying individual branches with 4000 p.p.m. Ethrel Gum ducts formed in the wood by cell breakdown. The initials of the gum ducts and the cells around young gum ducts showed dense cytoplasmic staining and increased protein synthesis.
