Histochemical study of RNA and glycogen content in the nervous tissue of some parasitic nematodes

The distribution of RNA and glycogen in the nervous apparatus of Heterakis gallinae, Rhabdias bufonis and Syngamus (Syngamus) trachea is described. Generally in all 3 species, the cytoplasm and nucleoli of all types of neurones of the ventral and dorsal cephalic and anal ganglia were more pyroninophilic, i.e. contained more RNA, than the neurones of the lateral cephalic, papillary cephalic, lumbar or sensory caudal genital ganglia.
