Histological and certain histochemical studies on the excurrent duct system of goat testis in different seasons of the year

Histological and certain histochemical studies on the excurrent duct system of goat testis in different seasons of the year

Haryana Agricultural University Journal of Research 10(3): 433-441

The excurrent duct system of goat testis is comprised of transition zone, receptacles and straight tubules and rete tubules. The transition zone consisted mostly of Sertoli cell which gave positive reaction for alkaline phosphatase, carbohydrates and fats. The receptacles were linked with simple squamous epithelium whose luminal borders gave a positive light reaction for alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, carbohydrates and fats. The straight and rete tubules were lined with a single layer of flattened to low cuboidal epithelium whose apical border demonstrated similar histochemical reactions as those of the receptacles. The rete was axially placed in the testis and established connection with the efferent ductules at the caputal extremity.
