Histological studies of wound healing in the pig

Histological studies of wound healing in the pig

Histopathologische Untersuchungen zur Wundheilung beim Schwein: 72

Histological studies were made of 37 skin wounds in various stages of healing, and also eight uterine scars, from pigs. It was concluded that epidermal regeneration may begin in the first 12 h, but the defect not be closed until about the 27th day. Hair bulbs and glands did not reform. Fibrin was sparse. Elastic fibres were found on the 50th day. There was generally a strong leukocytic reaction, with giant cells and eosinophils.
