Histopathological changes in the liver of hamsters experimentally infected with Dicrocoelium lanceolatum

Histopathological changes in the liver of hamsters experimentally infected with Dicrocoelium lanceolatum

Archiva Veterinaria 14: 83-90

Twenty-two young hamsters of both sexes (weight 80-100 g) were infected either with parasitized whole ants, or with a suspension of metacercariae in 5% saccharose saline solution (about 20-30 metacercariae/hamster). They were killed at intervals over the next 100 days. Of the first 15 hamsters, four showed neither parasites nor typical infections on histological section. Large fragments were taken from the hepatic hilus, including the gall bladder.
