Hive management in captivity. A crop pollination technique

Hive management in captivity. A crop pollination technique

Entomology Leaflet, ADAS Shardlow, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (16): 6

Techniques are described for the maintenance of small experimental colonies in bee-proof cages, and for the use of full-sized hives under glass and in bubble houses, for commercial pollination of fruit, runner beans, brassica or freesia seed crops. Given enough initial pollen, a three-frame nucleus will develop slowly and only rarely need extra brood or frames of pollen.
