Hormonal control of the induction of lactose synthesis in the rat

Hormonal control of the induction of lactose synthesis in the rat

Physiology of mammary glands: 265-284

It is pointed out that to elucidate the hormonal control of lactogenesis a quantitative evaluation of milk is required. Since quantitative assessment of milk secretion is difficult in small experimental animals, specific milk components such as lactose and casein which can be measured quantitatively are used as indicators of lactogenesis.
