11 infertile cows and heifers were induced to lactate by treatment with natural or synthetic oestrogens and progesterone twice daily for 7 days or synthetic oestrogen and progesterone on alternate days over a 14-day period. The dosage was 0.1 mg oestrogen and 0.25 mg progesterone/kg body weight. Six females (2 cows + 4 heifers) came into oestrus 42-57 days after the onset of lactation. Four females (1 cow + 3 heifers) were inseminated at the 2nd oestrus, and all conceived.
