Identification of blast-resistance genes in Korean rice variety, Tongil



Japanese Journal of Breeding Ikushugaki Zasshi 30(1): 73-82



A relationship was shown to exist between sterility in the F2 from Palkweng X Tongil and resistance to Pyricularia oryzae in the F3. Results from inoculation of F3 lines with seven strains of the fungus from Japan indicate that Tongil has two or more genes for resistance to P. oryzae, of which two are designated Pi-a and Pi-b.
