Inheritance and variability of number of spikelets per ear in hybrids between perennial and bread wheat

When two Triticum-Agropyron hybrids (2n = 56) were crossed with the T. aestivum varieties Mironovka 808 and Bezostaya 1 (2n = 42), the F1s were closer to the perennial parent in number of spikelets. In the F2-F3, the mean values for the character remained high, exceeding those of the two T. aestivum varieties.
