Notes are given on the morphology and biology (especially the food-plants, distribution, life-cycle and phenology) of 4 of the 8 Japanese species of the family Adelgidae, namely Adelges todomatsui (Inouye) (Dreyfusia todomatsui), A. pectinatae (Kholodk.) (Aphrastasia pectinatae var. ishiharai (Inouye)), Adelges japonicus (Monzen) and A. karamatsu Inouye.
