Light-trap catches of fruit tortricid moths in Kent, 1964-74, and associated temperature sums

Light-trap catches of fruit tortricid moths in Kent, 1964-74, and associated temperature sums

Plant Pathology (Oxford): 274: 169-182

Light-trap catches of adults of 5 tortricid species were recorded in pome-fruit orchards in Kent from 1964 to 1974. The dates on which Hedya nubiferana (Haw.), Cydia pomonella (L.) and Archips podanus (Scop.) were caught in light-traps were strongly correlated with accumulated temperatures in day-degrees above a threshold of 8 deg C. The correlation was less good for catches of Pandemis heparana (Schiff.), and it was slightly better for those of C. pomonella above 10 deg C than above 8 deg C.
