Marcotting Triplochiton scleroxylon K. Schum

Marcotting Triplochiton scleroxylon K. Schum

Nigeria, Federal Department of Forest Research: Proceedings of the symposium on variation and breeding systems of Triplochiton scleroxylon K Schum, 21-28 April, 1975: ; 93-98

Several factors affecting the rooting of marcots were studied. Branch order affected rooting: 30% of marcots on the leading shoot rooted, compared with 10% on a primary branch and none on a secondary branch. Applications of auxins (IAA and IBA) up to a certain concentration appeared to promote rooting. Marcot position affected rooting: 30% of those on internodes rooted compared with 10% of those on nodes. Peat and charcoal media gave better results than sawdust or polyethylene shreds.
