Mild transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs suckling vaccinated sows

Mild transmissible gastroenteritis in pigs suckling vaccinated sows

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 176(6): 539-542

A case history is reported of diarrhoea that occurred in 14- to 21-day-old piglets nursed by sows that had been vaccinated with attenuated transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) virus. 4 experiments were carried out to characterize the TGE virus isolated from the piglets (field strain) and to compare the responses of 2- and 21-day-old piglets to field, attenuated vaccine and Purdue strains of the virus.
