In 1976 Ipomoea heptaphylla, I. parasitica, I. hederifolia, I. nil, tall morningglory (I. purpurea), scarlet morningglory (I. coccinea), ivyleaf morningglory (I. hederacea) and cypressvine morningglory (I. quamoclit) were space sown into otherwise weed-free sandy clay loam soil at Experiment.
