Flavans were the predominant compounds in the phloem of mature Prunus shoots, constituting 5-12% of the dry substance. Chlorogenic acids were less concentrated and contributed between 0.2% and 1.2% of the dry weight. The flavans were higher in P. avium than in P. cerasus but the reverse was true for chlorogenic acids.
