The symptoms of disease in Pinus densiflora and P. thunbergii associated with Bursaphelenchus lignicolus in Japan are described, the distribution of the nematode throughout southwestern and central Japan is given and experiments are described which reaffirm the ability of the nematode to cause the disease.
