The dissertation explores the nature conservancy problem in Kenya from the example of the Nairobi national park and its surroundings. The view put forward is that the concept of nature conservation taken over from the colonial power was not appropriate to the requirements of the Kenyan people who must endeavour to find their own way to conserve nature.
