In sand culture experiments the height of plants of watermelon grafted onto bottle gourd (S/Y) were higher than those of watermelon grafted onto its own stock (S/S) at all the nutrient levels. Top and root dry weights of S/Y surpassed those of S/S at low nutrient levels, but this was reversed at high nutrient levels. Magnesium and nitrogen contents in the tops of S/Y decreased as compared to those in S/S.
