The rates of applied P required for 90% of max. yield of D. intortum Greenleaf were calculated from pot experiments using 24 fertilized and unfertilized soils from the Atherton Tableland, Queensland. P required was highly correlated (r2 = 0.94) with P sorbed by the soils at a supernatant P conc. of 0.08 p.p.m. P sorbed depended on the P buffer capacity at 0.08 p.p.m. and the extractable P.
