Preliminary results of comparative apple variety trials using the semi-dwarf rootstock MM.106 and the interstock M.7

Eight apple cvs were grafted on MM.106, or on Antonovka seedlings with M.7 as interstock. Two cvs were grafted on Antonovka seedlings without an interstock (standard). Compared with MM.106 the M.7 interstock stimulated precocity in most cvs whereas Antonovka seedlings without the interstock considerably retarded cropping. Yields were generally highest in trees with the M.7 interstock.
