Relationship between plasmids and plant tumorigenesis

Relationship between plasmids and plant tumorigenesis

Proceedings of the IVth International Conference on Plant Pathogenic Bacteria Vol 1: 199-205

In addition to the plasmid reported in tumorigenic bacteria such as Agrobacterium tumefaciens and its stable L forms, plasmids have also been found in soil and water organisms like Sarcina lutea and Pseudomonas fluorescens. When stems of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) were inoculated with any of these bacteria increased growth was nearly always induced, but when cured of plasmids the bacteria lost their ability to induce proliferation.
