Relationship between serum lactic acid and serum proline in alcoholic liver cirrhosis

Relationship between serum lactic acid and serum proline in alcoholic liver cirrhosis

Gastroenterology 77(5): A22

Serum lactic acid, lactic acid dehydrogenase (LDH) and proline were estimated in 42 alcoholic cirrhotics and 20 post-hepatitic cirrhotics within 48 h of admission to a clinic. In the alcoholics serum lactic acid, 26.5 mg/100 ml, and proline, 0.456 mu mol/ml, were significantly higher than the normal, 9 to 15 mg/100 ml and 0.158 mu mol/ml. A linear correlation was found between serum lactic acid and serum proline.
