Relationship between the dry matter digestibility of lucerne and the harvest phenophase

Relationship between the dry matter digestibility of lucerne and the harvest phenophase

Rostlinna Vyroba 23(2): 179-184

Digestibility of the 1st and 2nd cuts of lucerne Hodoninka, Palava and Stupicka was determined in vitro by the method of Tilley and Terry. Cuts were taken at each of 6 growth stages. Max. DM digestibility was at the pre-budding stage. The dynamics of the fall in DM digestibility during the various growth stages was not linear, and at younger growth stages before flowering was markedly greater than at ontogenetically older stages.
