Relationship between the profile development, soluble ions and chemical composition in the alluvium-derived soils of the Indo-Gangetic Plains of Punjab

Based on a detailed reconnaissance, two widely distributed soils (Ustochrepts and Fluvaquents) representing two dominant physiographic units in the Indo-Gangetic plains of Punjab were studied for soluble ion distribution and chemical composition in relation to profile development. Calcium plus magnesium and chloride are the dominant soluble cations and anion in the two soils.
