Relationship between the regional location of maize production systems and efficiency of production

Gazdalkodas 22(11): 19-24

One of the largest reserves for developing maize production in Hungary is the use of the most suitable locations for cultivation. At present about half the area under maize is situated in regions which are primarily suited to maize production. On the basis of farm level investigations carried out between 1971 and 1976, the maize acreage was found to be decreasing in the most suitable areas and to be increasing in areas which were only to a medium extent suitable for maize.
