Relationship of fecundity to the nutritional quality of larval and adult diets of Wyeomyia smithii

Relationship of fecundity to the nutritional quality of larval and adult diets of Wyeomyia smithii

Mosquito News: 383: 396-403

In investigations in Texas, the protein content of the larval diet was found to influence significantly oocyte production by autogenous females of Wyeomyia smithii (Coq.). The addition of sucrose to the adult diet increased life-span and fecundity. There were no significant changes in fecundity when 10-25% egg albumin was added to the adult diet.
