Relationships between growth traits, carcass traits and muscle nucleic acid concentrations in the bovine

Relationships between growth traits, carcass traits and muscle nucleic acid concentrations in the bovine

Journal of Animal Science 47(5): 1095-1101

Two experiments were conducted to characterise and relate semitendinosus muscle nucleic acid concentrations to physiological maturity as expressed by carcass composition. In the 1st experiment, 16 Hereford X Aberdeen-Angus (AA) reciprocal crossbred steers, 16 Maine-Anjou (MA) steers, and 14 crossbred steers sired by German Yellow (GY) bulls were chosen to represent cattle with differing maturity rates.
