Relationships between pH variations in an acid soil and application of limestone particles with different characteristics

Relationships between pH variations in an acid soil and application of limestone particles with different characteristics

Annales Agronomiques 29(6): 559-581

Variations in the pH of an acid soil to which calcareous amendments have been applied depend on the calcium balance, on its direct action upon pH, and on the kinetics of decomposition of the limestone particles. The latter depends on particle surface area. A relationship between soil pH changes and lime particle characteristics has been formulated.
