Relationships of fruit size of satsumas to the sugar and acid contents

Relationships of fruit size of satsumas to the sugar and acid contents

Journal of the Japanese Society for Horticultural Science 48(2): 162-168

An allometric relationship was observed between pulp weight and fruit weight in the satsuma Miyagawe Wase. With increasing fruit size the concentrations of soluble solids and titratable acid in the juice decreased, but the rate of decrease tended to lessen with rising fruit weight. The total soluble solids content of the whole pulp was positively correlated with fruit weight.
