Relative acceptability of nine grasses under grazing conditions

Plots of 440 m2 of Digitaria decumbens, Chloris gayana, Panicum maximum, Pennisetum purpureum, Cynodon dactylon, Hyparrhenia rufa, Cenchrus ciliaris, Dichanthium aristatum and Cynodon plectostachyus were grazed during the spring and dry seasons at 30- and 45-day intervals, resp. by dairy cows for 4 days. The animals spent most time grazing on D. decumbens, C. gayana and D. aristatum during the spring and the same 3 spp. plus P. maximum during the dry season.
