Relative resistance of potato cultivars to bacterial wilt

Relative resistance of potato cultivars to bacterial wilt

American Potato Journal 57(4): 159-165

Evaluations were made of 51 cvs. against Pseudomonas solanacearum under conditions of high disease pressure in a Ga. field plot, which was artificially infested by incorporating diseased tomato crops into the soil for 4 yr. In addition, 1 stem on each potato plant was inoculated in late May by cutting with a contaminated knife blade. Most cvs. proved highly susceptible; Ontario was the only highly resistant with only 1% dead or dying plants in 1978 and 8% in 1979.
