Release of VIP, secretin and motilin after duodenal acidification in man

Release of VIP, secretin and motilin after duodenal acidification in man

Acta Hepato-Gastroenterologica 25(5): 365-368

Plasma vasoactive inhibitory polypeptide (VIP), secretin and motilin were estimated in 9 healthy persons after intraduodenal instillation of 50 ml 0.1 M HCl during 3 min. VIP increased from 1.7 pmol/litre to a peak of 6.6 pmol/litre at 6 min and was still significantly increased at 30 min. Secretin was initially 2.5, peak at 3 min 10 pmol/litre and returned to baseline values by 10 min.
