Remote sensing and vegetation damage: a theory for detection and assessment



Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing 44(9): 1147-1158



A discussion with special reference to forest trees. Examples of normal colour and colour-IR aerial photography are used to describe remote-sensing evidence of vegetation damage, its interpretation, and its assessment. The effects of damage on spectral reflectance, and film reactions to this are explained. A dichotomous key is presented for photointerpretation of forest damage types, already noticed Image enhancement techniques are briefly discussed.
