In field trials at Sakha, Egypt in 1975-6, cotton Giza 45, Giza 70, Menoufi and Giza 75 were given 0, 15, 30, 45 or 60 kg N/feddan and their yield, its components and lint and seed characters were studied. Significant differences between occurred for number of fruiting branches and open bolls/plant, boll wt., percentage of 1st harvest yield, flowering date, boll opening date, seed cotton yield/plant and /feddan, seed index, lint percentage, fibre length, strength and fineness.
