Response to partial selection on clean fleece weight in South Australian strong-wool Merino sheep. IV. Genetic parameters



Australian Journal of Agricultural Research 30(1): 173-189



Heritabilities of body weight at 2 ages and 9 wool characters are presented for Merinos, based on a half-sib analysis of data collected for 1954-1965. Genetic, phenotypic and environmental correlations were calculated for male and female progeny separately for each of the 2 flocks (Index and Visual) selected by different methods in the Roseworthy clean fleece weight selection experiment. These estimates indicate that differences have arisen between the 2 flocks.
