The results of trials with six silage and twelve grain maize varieties in various localities are presented. Experimental silage hybrids 388 and 391 were specially promising, as were the early varieties Eta and Tau [Dew]. In the favourable year 1976, the medium-maturity group did well, as did certain late types such as Orla 312. In 1978, early and midearly varieties did better.
