Scanning electron microscopic study of Syphacia muris and Syphacia arvicolae (Nematoda: Oxyuridae)

Scanning electron microscopic study of Syphacia muris and Syphacia arvicolae (Nematoda: Oxyuridae)

Acta Universitatis Agriculturae, Brno, Facultas Agronomica 26(3): 195-207

Syphacia muris from Rattus rattus and S. arvicolae from Arvicola sapidus were studied with the scanning electron microscope. S. muris is characterized by the absence of cervical and lateral alae, a smooth body surface and the presence of a sponge-like structure near the submedian papillae and amphids. The region posterior to the head is characterized by irregularly distributed longitudinal grooves.
