Seasonal variations in body reactions, daily milk yield and milk composition of crossbred cows and buffaloes

The performance of 56 Egyptian X Friesian cows and 18 Egyptian buffaloes was compared over a 12-mth period. In winter, spring, summer and autumn, daily milk yield of cows averaged 7.70, 7.47, 6.57 and 7.71 kg resp., daily fat yield averaged 0.31, 0.29, 0.27 and 0.35 kg, and daily SNF yield 0.56, 0.55, 0.45 and 0.95 kg. The corresponding figures for buffaloes were 4.86, 4.80, 4.20 and 5.47 kg milk, 0.33, 0.37, 0.29 and 0.27 kg fat, and 0.38, 0.38, 0.31 and 0.30 kg SNF.
