Studies in the herbicidal influence on microflora and nitrification

Studies in the herbicidal influence on microflora and nitrification

Indian Journal of Microbiology 15(2): 59-61

ISSN/ISBN: 0046-8991

Atrazine and DPA at 25-100 mu g, EPTC 50-200 mu g and 2,4-D 10-40 mu g/100 ml of culture media (i.e. 50%, 100% and 200% of normal field rates) were the treatments in the laboratory. Propanil and atrazine at the high concn. reduced bacterial populations by nearly 75%. All herbicides at all concns. reduced populations of actinomycetes by 85-90% but fungi were unaffected.
