Studies on induction of rooting in eggplant

In trials with the eggplant Pusa Purple Long, 20 cm long cuttings were dipped in solutions of IAA, IBA or NAA for 24 h. IAA at 200 p.p.m. and NAA at 100 and 200 p.p.m. were lethal. The best rooting was noted in cuttings treated with IBA at 100 p.p.m., although plant height was below that of the control. Plants treated with IBA at 100 p.p.m. also produced the greatest number of fruits/plant (26) compared with 14 fruits/plant in the control.
