Foliar symptoms and other growth characteristics resulting from deficiency or excess of Mn on rice were studied by subjecting 21-day-old seedlings of rice Murungakayan 302 grown in nutrient sol. containing 56, 14, 23, 10, 48, 80, 0.25, 5.00, 0.02, 0.01, 0.25 p.p.m. of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, B, Cl, Cu, Mo and Zn, resp. + 0, 2.5, 20.0, 40.0 or 80.0 p.p.m. Fe (as FeSO4) or 0, 2.5, 5.0, 20.0, 40.0 or 80.0 p.p.m. Mn; the 1st 5 treatments assessing Fe were supplied with 0.5 p.p.m.
